These fellas were inspired by a dear friend and Gorilla champion. She lives in Germany and painting these hairy gentlemen kept me in her company for an afternoon.
Beautiful, my friend! I could feel the connection all the way over in Germany. And I am proud to have one of these find furry gentleman on my wall as we speak-type! Love from me and Markus. And from Markus a question: what are the origins of your blog's name?
Good question Markus (and apologies for what I see now were repeated misspellings of your name.... ahem!). While traveling in Italy I was occasionally greeted with laughter and disbelief when I would tell people my name. At long last someone graciously explained that "Mela" means "apple" while "ina" is the diminutive suffix. I was essentially telling people my name was "little apple." I don't know why but that always pleased me. So there it is: little apple.
