A belated publication of the first painting from last year, "Woman with a Bird in Her Hair" (in honor of Portland).

Art for the Big 400 (My how it grows!)

Back when I first stumbled into the wonderful world of The Big 100, it was just that... 100 artists displaying their matched panels in a giant warehouse, stacked on each other like the world's most expressive bricks. This year it touted the name "the Big 400" but boasted nearly a hundred more--500 artists of various styles and subject matters, all working the same limited playing field of an 8 x 8 panel. People swarmed inside the double galleries, visiting and revisiting walls that seemed to shift their content even as viewed--one image coming into focus that only moments before had been totally ignored. Needless to say, it takes a couple of passes to see even a fraction of the art displayed. In case you missed it (or were there staring directly at it, but succumbed to the mind witchery that is overstimulation of the optic nerves), here are my pieces from this year's Big 400 (or a few of them, at least).
